Fundamental, unchanging, and guiding truths.

"The more things change, the more they stay the same." – Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr

This well-known satirical statement from French novelist Karr in 1849 still rings true today. It continues to remind us that there are always fundamental unchanging and guiding truths that govern our everyday lives. The truthfulness of Karr's timeless conclusion has demonstrated itself countless times in our individual lives. It's so basic, familiar, and so true.

Today we exist in a world that rejects absolute and unchanging truth. Instead, it's dedicated to the vague concept of moral relativism where there is no final authority, transcendent unchangeable law, or standard by which we are all governed. Individualism is the highest authority and the determining factor of what is right or wrong in life. Personal autonomy demands that there be no rules to follow, and a person's decision is valid solely because it is what they want. There are no guidelines that need to be followed except those the individual chooses to adopt. In this society, personal freedom is the ultimate virtue, and it will not tolerate those who are intolerant of someone else's decision.

Unlike the secular world, the highest standard for the Christian should be the Word of God. Karr's statement, "The more things change, the more they stay the same,"  is especially true in the Christian life, where departure from God's standards has dire eternal consequences. The Apostle Peter understood this very well when in his second epistle, he told the church.

“Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your calling and choosing sure; for in doing these things, you will never stumble; for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you. Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been strengthened in the truth which is present with you. I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder, knowing that the laying aside of my earthly dwelling is imminent, as also our Lord Jesus Christ has indicated to me. And I will also be diligent that at any time after my departure you will be able to call these things to mind.” - 2 Peter 1:10-15 (LSB)

Peter committed his ministry to continually reinforcing fundamental truths of faith in Christ. He knew that his time left on earth was best used to remind the church of those "qualities" so that believers would not stray from God's word and stand firm in the foundational and non-negotiable truths of the scriptures.

The Apostle Paul also asserted the principle of reinforcing the scriptures' fundamental, unchanging, and guiding truths when he admonished the Corinthian church for its carnal nature, spiritual immaturity, and growing factions within the church. These and many other problems within that church revealed the inability of its members to break from the sinful culture they came from and necessitated that Paul dispatch his faithful disciple Timothy to remind them, instruct, and reinforce them of the ways of Christ.

For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, and who will remind you of my ways which are in Christ, just as I teach everywhere in every church. - 1 Corinthians 4:17 (LSB)

These examples illustrate what Core-Truth Ministries is about and confirm its founding principles. That is, to teach and reinforce the fundamental, unchanging, and guiding truth in God's word - The Bible. Especially in a time when many so-called evangelical churches and ministries have succumbed to societal pressures and have substituted Christ and the scriptures with someone or something else. Too many so-called evangelical churches have exchanged the truth of scripture for lies in an effort to win converts and hold their attention. Pair this effective and dangerous strategy with leaders who obsess over growing numbers, money, and the promise of blessings to those who give - and you have the classic false teachers that Jesus warned us about throughout His ministry.

The apostle Peter is right. It is a vital and worthwhile ministry to continue to "stir up" the church and be Relentlessly Biblical in reminding it of the truth. That is why we are committed to the faithful exposition of scripture and teaching biblical truth with clarity. Establishing and reinforcing a high view of scriptures by building on the full and accurate truth concerning the Lord Jesus Christ of whom the scriptures speak.
